For the medical transcription program, each session begins with a list of words to be defined. I've learned some interesting things. But the one I just looked up "exudate" made me laugh. The definition was "a substance that has oozed forth." Disgusting and funny all at the same time.
More about Jonesy, the new dog. She has hostility towards men (but hey! so do I!), is afraid of digital cameras, thunder, and (this is a new one) the sound a diet coke can makes when it is being opened. I know that a dog's hearing is far superior to a human's hearing, but Jonsey was hiding in the closet even before I heard the thunder. And it's not like she moseys in there. It's a sudden position of alertness, then a mad dash for cover.
The garden is growing well. It went through a few days of not being watered by us humans. Though living in Florida in the summer, it did receive an almost daily dose of water from above. The cucumbers took all the sun that the carrots needed, so I'm pretty sure the carrots are a loss. Now the cucumbers are starting to look rather dead, perhaps a delayed complaint about the lack of attention and water. The sunflowers, however, are a good two feet tall. It's encouraging. Now, if I could just nurse those cucumber plants back to life. We shall see.
This part is particularly random. So, having spent time abroad, I think that I came back a much more well-rounded person, as it pertains to being more internationally minded. I think I am just now realizing that a fair number of people here just find me weird, strange, or perhaps even unstable - for the whole experience. So I was just now thinking, and Lord knows that I know I have issues. I've come a long way, by the grace of God, but still have a ways to go. But I knew quite a few people in Korea who weren't screwey or socially stunted. I'd even say that most of my expat friends there belonged to the non-screwey camp. And I'm not complaining or feeling rejected or anything like that. I'm just surprised at the perceptions and reactions of some people. You know, it really could be a Southern thing though. I don't know.
On that note, back to the defining.
